Vedic Culture and Traditions

This is a general term for the set of teachings that reflect the experience and worldview of the rishis - the sages of the Indian subcontinent of ancient times. In their quest to understand themselves and their relationships with others, the world, the divine and the unseen, they developed means and methods of revealing other levels of reality pertaining to life here and now, as well as hereafter. Among them, I follow Yoga and Jyotiṣa.

Jyotiṣa is aimed at the welfare of living beings

The Jyotiṣa aka Vedic astrology is a derivative of the Sanskrit words jyoti (light) and īśa (lord, master), and might be translated as “the lord of light”. Living our lives we tend to strive for better conditions according to our own understanding. But usually the answer to our quest does not lie in changing our circumstances, but in changing the point of view on what is. Instead of simply being reactive, one can follow the insight of Jyotiṣa to understand the cause of a confusing situation, and then respond creatively, with greater confidence and depth of perspective.

Nikita is an extraordinarily bright, pleasant and learned Vedic astrologer. Having myself been steeped in Vedic learning for decades, it’s so refreshing to receive a reading form someone in the West who has such a deep grasp on traditional Vedic learning himself. Over the course of our reading, he was able to hone in on key life themes and help me make sense of the present juncture and fruitful paths forward with his keen insight. Moreover, Nikita is a highly compassionate, empathetic person who is service-oriented to the core. He’s extremely approachable, even calming, which makes for a natural counselor. A reading with Nikita is guaranteed to be as delightful as it is insightful. What more could you want in a Vedic astrology session? Very highly recommend.

Asana Sangraha Trikonasana

Yoga Asana Sangraha

Sangraha means “a collection” or “compendium.” This is a beginner level class that will introduce you to the grounding and calming sequences of asanas that have an intentional effect on the signaling of the nervous system. You will move through a set postures that come from the larger Hatha Yoga tradition, and not from any one lineage. They are accessible, balancing, and stabilizing, followed by deep rest and will leave you feeling calm, focused, and connected. This class is developed by Eddie Stern, drawing from experimentation, study, and exploration of classical Hatha Yoga practices and texts.

Breath of life

Pranayama is the science of calming the mind through breathing practices. We rarely pay attention to how we breathe, because the breathing process occurs automatically. However, breathing is a life support function that can be controlled. By breathing mindfully, we learn to control our breathing patterns to calm and nourish the nervous system, slow down racing thoughts, and bring ourselves back to the present. We develop the skill of breathing fully and easily in order to create a healthy body, change our perceptions and live a more purposeful and fulfilling life.

Thanks to Nikita, pranayama has become my healthy everyday habit. I participated in his pranayama courses and took individual classes. The way Nikita explains material is clear and easy to follow. What I also admire is that he himself is a dedicated practitioner, who is lucky to learn from amazing teachers with deep roots into yogic tradition. I believe that the art of breathing is an essential tool for each of us and highly recommend Nikita’s pranayama programs.

About Me

I grew up studying classical music and was introduced to Eastern philosophy early in life. At the age of 19, I decided to devote myself entirely to yoga and spent 8 years in the ashram. It was a time when I gained a huge amount of experience and knowledge that I am still learning to utilize to this day. Introducing Jyotiṣa finally gave me a perfect structure for organizing and discerning, and also offered the ultimate communication tool I needed. I live a quiet family life on the Mediterranean coast in the town of Stari Bar, Montenegro. From here I maintain a consulting practice, teach asanas, pranayama, and continue to research and work in the field of Jyotiṣa.
