Step into the living tradition of Vedic chanting — a practice that has been passed down for thousands of years through a remarkable oral lineage. This 4-part series offers an accessible yet profound introduction for those new to Vedic chant and Sanskrit sounds. Guided by the rhythmic precision and melodic patterns unique to the Veda, you will learn not only how to chant but also why it is done this way. Each session will center around one revered deity — Gaṇeśa, Lakṣmī, Durgā, and Śiva — exploring their mantras, symbolic qualities, and the energies they represent. Alongside the chanting, you will gain a cultural and philosophical understanding of the Vedas, the art of Sanskrit pronunciation, and the role of mantra in daily life and in the broader yoga tradition. This course will connect sound, meaning, and devotion — offering both a meditative experience and a grounding in ancient Indian wisdom. This series is open to complete beginners. Course Objectives By the end of this course, participants will: • Develop a foundational understanding of Vedic chanting, its purpose, and its connection to yoga and meditation. • Recognise and articulate basic Sanskrit sounds with clarity and accuracy. • Learn the significance of four key deities in the Hindu tradition and their associated mantras. • Appreciate the precision, discipline, and vibrational quality of the Vedic oral tradition. • Explore the application of chanting as a tool for focus, wellbeing, and spiritual connection. Session Outline 1 – Gaṇeśa: The Opener of Pathways Begin with Gaṇeśa, the beloved remover of obstacles and guardian of beginnings. Her mantra embodies courage and resilience, offering a way to ground yourself in strength and clarity during life’s challenges. 4 – Śiva: The Stillness Beyond Change Conclude with Śiva, the great yogi and lord of transformation. Learn a mantra that invites inner stillness, letting sound lead you towards silence, renewal, and a deeper connection to your own awareness.
